NAME OUR PARK

THE CITY OF GULF BREEZE LAUNCHES "NAME OUR PARK" CONTEST TO CELEBRATE COMMUNITY AND NATURE

Contest to provide residents a chance to name the new park at the site of the former Wayside Park at the landing of the General Chappie James Memorial Bridge.

The City of Gulf Breeze and Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce are excited to launch the “Name Our Park” contest that invites City of Gulf Breeze residents to share their creativity and submit their suggestions for the official name of the new 5.56-acre park being planned for the former Wayside Park.

The challenge to residents is simple yet incredibly fun: Name our park!

The contest, which runs through Monday, March 24, aims to find a fitting and inspiring name for our waterfront park that embodies the theme of a “classic, nostalgic 50s and early 60s retro-modern state park feel.” The plans are a re-creation of the ultimate/ideal 50s and early 60s hip/cool, modern family experience for paddlers, fishers, and boaters.

It offers City of Gulf Breeze residents a unique opportunity to have a lasting influence on the park’s identity for generations to come, by providing a name that will resonate with the authentic spirit of our community and foster a sense of belonging.

Mayor JB Schluter invites all residents to engage in the fun. “We hope that by involving our residents in this process, we'll nurture a sense of ownership, and create a park name that reflects the true essence of City of Gulf Breeze, connecting us to our heritage and the beauty of the park's natural landscape.”

In addition to the naming rights and the satisfaction of providing the park’s official name, the resident who submits the winning name will also receive $300 and be honored at a future unveiling showcasing the name on the official park signage.
